Student Research Ambassador Spring 2019

The Student Research Center is looking to hire one (1) Sacramento State student currently participating in research and/or creative activities from one of the following colleges: Arts & Letters, Health & Human Services, or Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies. The Student Research Ambassador Program consists of peer mentors with knowledge of research and creative activity engagement who promote the mission of the Student Research Center by assisting as-needed in preparations for research dissemination events, recruiting and mentoring prospective students, and facilitating workshops and information sessions. Ambassadors are expected to maintain a professional appearance, positive attitude, and good academic standing.

Majors/Fields of Study: Arts & Letters, Health & Human Services, Social Sciences & Interdisciplinary Studies. 

Conditions of Employment:
5 hours per week during the Spring 2019 semester 
Rate of pay: $13 per hour

Minimum Qualifications:
Previous or current experience participating in research or creative activities.
Academic level: Upper division (junior or senior level) or graduate student.
Good academic standing: Sac State and cumulative GPA of at least 2.0.
Positive attitude.


Preferred Qualifications:
Excellent organizational skills with ability to effectively multi-task and manage a challenging workload.
Strong interpersonal and group facilitation skills.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse student, staff, faculty, administrative, and community populations.
Ability to deliver and facilitate presentations related to research and creative activities.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in outreach and recruitment activities to increase student involvement in research and creative activities.
Facilitate workshops (in conjunction with faculty and/or staff).
Provide support for students looking for or currently conducting research or creative activity opportunities.
Assist with organizing and implementing campus and system-wide student research events.
Attend weekly Team/Training Meetings.
Accurately record and report hours worked, submit timesheets by due dates provided.
Attend required Peer/Ambassador training.
