Annual Provost’s Student Research & Creative Activities Fall Forum 2018 

Success By the Numbers! Fall Forum 2018 Program

The 5th annual Provost’s Student Research & Creative Activities Fall Forum was hosted on Friday, November 9, 2018 in the Redwood Room, University Union.

At this year's competition, there were 84 posters, with 108 individuals contributing as presenters, and 42 research mentors. Student researchers represented 20 departments and programs across five colleges. The number of posters represents a 20% increase when compared to fall 2017 (70 poster presentations). The event also served 149 student attendees, 51 faculty members, 18 staff and 9 parents/family members of the student presenters.

The 32nd Annual Student Research Competition, held May 4-5 at the University Union, Sacramento State, was a great event for CSU students presenting their research, scholarship and creative activities. The competition hosted more than 200 oral presentations, which were distributed among 21 sessions. Each session was judged by a panel of jurors and 1st and 2nd place winners were selected for each session. Competition winners were awarded a monetary prize - 1st place winners received $500 and 2nd place winners received $250.

Sac State Physics Student, Mark Samuel Abbott, Wins 1st Place at CSU Student Research Competition

 

 

Sacramento State senior Mark-Samuel Abbott won the Undergraduate Physical and Mathematical Sciences Session – and $500 for his oral presentation, “Optimizing the HH->bbtautau Analysis to Measure the Strength of the Tri-linear Higgs Self-coupling.”

Success By the Numbers!

2017 Fall Forum Program

The 4th annual Provost's Students Research Fall Forum celebrated the research, scholarship and creative activities performed by Sacramento State students and their faculty mentors. This year, we hosted 65 poster presentations (a 27% increase from last year), with +150 individuals as authors and co-authors. Undergraduate and graduate students from all over campus presented their research, scholarship and creative activities. Presenters represented 23 departments & programs from six colleges.  We also had +190 event attendees, including 135 student attendees.
