Favorite class or professor? Why?

Definitely professor Rice. I took film theory with him. It was the class that pushed me the most academically and I enjoyed it the most. I was depressed when the last day of class came. He has a unique teaching style, it makes you anticipate coming to class. It’s less lecture based, and more of a dialogue and open discussion with classmates. It feels like you're interacting with the course material.

Next steps after graduation?

I'm attending UC Davis next year, where I'll be part of the education credential program. My goal is to become a teacher by the end of the year.

Why did you attend Sac State?

It’s really close to my house and it's convenient. But Sac State grew on me as the years went on. I’m thrilled I ended up making that decision. I feel like it was really good for my personal growth and I discovered my passion. I’m proud of the person I became at the end of Sac State.

Best memory?

Receiving the faculty endowment award and giving an acceptance speech. My parents and professors were really proud. It was a nice moment.

Advice for freshman?

There are going to be moments of depression but work through those and find your passion. Don’t just pick a major with solid career options. Find what makes you happy. If you find your passion early, you can grow from there.

What would your “walk-up” song be?
