The following procedure for independent substantive review when faculty members apply for a non-governmental contract or grant has been established (after the appropriate consultation) for California State University, Sacramento.

The form titled "Conflict of Interest, Principal Investigators" will be completed when faculty members apply for a non-governmental contract or grant.  If the faculty member indicates a financial interest in the donor or sponsor, he/she will be asked to complete the form "Principal Investigator's Statement of Economic Interest."

This form, along with the application for the contract or grant, will then be reviewed by the campus Independent Review Committee. This Committee will consult, as they deem necessary, with administrators, faculty, the academic discipline in question, and others involved in the research review process.  Upon completion of their review, the committee will recommend whether funding for the research project should be accepted and if so, if any conditions are needed.
