  • duplicates the PAL program in the College of Engineering & Computer Sciences, AND launches the Hornet Leadership Academy, which unites all of STEM in a multilevel leadership development program.

  • provides low-income, high-achieving transfer students with scholarships and extracurricular support for their first year on campus

Project PASS (Peer-Assisted Student Success; NSF DUE 1068383):  http://www.csus.edu/nsm/pal

  • launched the Peer-Assisted Learning (PAL) program, which provides highly trained peer Facilitators for gateway/gatekeeper STEM courses

  • employs 80 undergraduates across all STEM fields

PAL Facilitators are hired in December/March for the following semester.  Shadow opportunities may be available in the spring semester.  

PALs are available in the following courses: 

      Chem 4, Chem 1A, Chem 1B, Chem 24, Chem 124

      Math 12, Math 29, Math 30, Math 31, Math 32 

      Bio 22, Bio 25, Bio 26, Bio 121, Bio 131, BIO 184 

      Phys 5A

Every semester, every course: students enrolled in a PAL are more successful in the main course.
