Sacramento native Lucas Bere is a woodwind performer and educator. Lucas attended Rio Americano High School, where he received soloist awards from the Monterey NextGen, Essentially Ellington, and Mingus Jazz Festivals, among others. He was a Fellow at the Dave Brubeck Institute from 2014-2015 before earning a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance from Berklee College of Music and a Master of Music degree in Technology and Applied Composition from San Francisco Conservatory of Music. During his performance studies, Lucas' mentors included Stefon Harris, Edward Simon, Joe Gilman, Shannon LeClaire, Wendy Rolfe, Frank Tiberi, Dave Santoro, and Greg Hopkins.
Lucas performs regularly across the greater Sacramento and San Francisco Bay Area with groups including LabRats and the Kyle Athayde Dance Party, and has recorded woodwinds for clients including Counter-Strike 2, Meta, and the Colossus Big Band. Alongside his performance career, Lucas composes, arranges, and produces music for media such as animations, games, and short films, and records and mixes for artists such as Sixth Station Trio. In 2022, Lucas was a speaker at GameSoundCon, the leading industry conference for video game music and sound design.
A dedicated teaching artist, Lucas has worked with students of all ages and abilities for over a decade. He adapts his teaching style to each student based on their needs and interests and works with them to set and accomplish their unique musical goals.
