Dr. Harrison is not accepting new students to her research lab at this time. Interested students should check back May, 2023.

Prospective Research Assistants

The prejudice and interpersonal relations lab conducts basic and applied social psychological research. I generally require students to make at least a two-semester commitment and work an average of 9-10 hours per week. The demands of working in the research lab are high, but so are the benefits.

Currently, the lab is conducting a series of studies examining how motivational processes influence implicit attitudes. Research assistants in the lab may work together on one large project, or work individually on a related project concerning implicit attitudes.

  • Number of positions typically available each semester: 4-6
  • I generally prefer to accept new research assistants for the fall semester, but occasionally I will accept a spring admission.
  • If you are interested in joining the lab, download the application at the bottom of the page. Once you’ve completed the application you should email Dr. Harrison for an appointment to discuss your possible participation in the lab.

Research Assistants’ Responsibilities

I expect lab assistants to spend 9-10 hours a week on lab activities. These include our weekly lab meeting, reading and evaluating empirical journal articles, material development, data collection, data analysis, and report writing.
