1. Umoja Lifestyle Modification Program (ULMP)

Vision and Mission

Vision

ULMP envisions a culturally sensitive model that will help promote, support, and sustain engagement of African Immigrant community members residing the Sacramento area in lifestyle modification.

Mission

The Mission of ULMP is to prevent, delay the onset of, and control diabetes and improve cardiovascular health through evidenced-based, culturally sensitive lifestyle intervention programs in community settings. 

Research Projects/Interests

  • Improving the quality of life for African immigrants who are at risk for, or who have, type 2 diabetes

  • Increasing use of lifestyle intervention programs in community settings in the prevention of obesity and type 2 diabetes
