Decision Support and Knowledge-Based Systems


Thursday, 6:00-8:50 p.m., Tahoe Hall 1004

This course covers the organizational use of information generated from transaction processing systems, management information systems, and decision support systems. The uses of information by managers for planning, control,and decision making purposes will be discussed. The types of information systems implemented in various kinds of organizations will be covered. Prerequisite: MIS 210 or equivalent. 3 units.

Note. Because Oracle's Discoverer (along with Oracle9i) will be used to demonstrate the design and implementation of a DSS, a background in database and SQL (MIS 211) is necessay. If you do not possess this knowledge, you will have difficulty with some of the assignments (although this will not prevent you from completing them).
