Academic Dishonesty

Please read this section carefully!

All quizzes, exams, lab exercises, programs, and homework assignments (except designated team projects) are to be entirely your own work.

All work you turn in must be your own work. While it is acceptable for students to get general help on programming assignments, the final product for individual assignments must be your own. If you turn in any work, be it major programming assignments, lab programs, or any other homework assignments, you are verifying that the work is yours. (Team projects will be discussed in class). For any computer programs you turn in, I may ask you to describe part or the entire program. If you are unable to answer the questions, that is, if you do not understand the program, it is considered to be the evidence that the work is not your own. Therefore, any work which you turn in, but which you do not understand, is to be considered as an evidence of cheating.

The options available to the instructor in cases of cheating include, among others, the automatic assigning of an "F" grade for the course and the inclusion of a letter in the permanent file maintained at the university level for the student. (If, at the time of graduation, no additional cheating incidents are recorded i.e., there is only one incident on record, that one record will be removed from the file. However, if a second incident is recorded in that file during the student's university career, the student will lose the privilege of attending CSUS).

Note: I will try to be fair and open-minded. If you have a problem concerning this course, please don't hesitate to discuss it during office hours (or make an appointment if office hours are not convenient for you). However, your grade is your responsibility. Excuses such as:

"I didn't have time to do the assignments because
my class load is too heavy."

"I had too many outside activities."

"There was a great snow storm in the Sierra."

will be met with a relatively deaf ear.
