Introduction:

You have just been handed an invitation to a cocktail party being given by a leading firm in New York.  The party is being thrown to determine the architect who will build the firm’s new corporate office and retail space in the Manhattan area.   What will you say to members of the firm to earn the high profile account?

Task:

Research “your” major accomplishments and brush up on your influences and academic career because you will be interviewing for the job during the cocktail party.

Procedure:

1.     Select an architect from the list provided.

2.     Select a food item from the list to bring to the party.

3.     Organize a small group of party guests (groups of four to five).  This group will perform the improvisational scene with the client (teacher).  Each guest will be asked questions by the client (teacher) and be expected to create small talk for the duration of the scene (15-20 minutes)

4.     In order to be successful in landing your client, you must first find out all you can about your architect. Using the links in the Resource section, investigate the following so that you can assume the identity of your architect:
a. Major historical developments during the architect’s career
b. Education and family background
c. Major influences on their careers
d. Famous structures built

5.     Each group member will assume the identity of one of the guests and "be" that individual for the duration of the party. Each party will take place in front of the class for the amount of time specified by the teacher. Party conversations will be about key issues of related to the architect.
