Policy Statement:
Pursuant to E.O. 1039, the California State University (CSU) recognizes Occupational Health & Safety (e.g., Environmental Health & Safety or EH&S) as an integral function throughout the CSU system. This policy establishes practices and procedures to mitigate injury and illness for Sacramento State employees and promotes campus health and safety programs to help provide a safe and healthful environment to students, faculty, and staff.
Who the Policy applies to:
This policy applies to all current and future students, faculty, and staff at Sacramento State as well as visitors to campus facilities and grounds.

Why the Policy is necessary:
To proactively identify, prevent, and mitigate risk of injury and illness to University faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

The campus EH&S program administrator is responsible for developing and maintaining a campus health and safety program that meets the requirements of the Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP) (California Code of Regulations (CCR), Title 8, section 3203) as well as other applicable California and Federal Occupational Safety and Health (Cal-OSHA) requirements. Campus deans, department chairs, managers and supervisors are responsible for promoting health and safety within their respective organizations. Per E.O. 1039, the President has delegated authority for this policy to the Vice President for Administration/CFO.
