Research Statement and Interests 

My research fits within the multidisciplinary field of dam risk assessment and reduction. Within this field, my research work focuses on improving the estimates of seismic risk on embankment dams by advancing the seismic hazard and response analysis techniques and prediction of damage. Current areas of research are:

  • Probabilistically-consistent treatment of intensity measures in seismic hazard analyses
  • Identification of intensity measures that relate to embankment dam deformations
  • Validation of non-linear deformation response analyses against case-history and centrifuge test data
  • Identification of embankment dam non-linearity through utilization of strong ground motion data

Given the interdisciplinary nature of dam risk assessment and reduction, I also seek to collaborate with experts in complementary fields.
