Due to tight budgets, like many others our department no longer provides printed cop of the syllabus to students on the first day of class. At the same time, on-line formats have become standard for sharing information.
For both of these reasons, I provide information for this course through this public course content site in a way that is more interactive than a traditional syllabus. Remember that this site can be accessed easily outside of SacCT by simply using Google or some other search engine to find my name and the course number (HRS 147). The SacCT site is used for communication, assessments and submitting assignments, but it is this site that provides all the information about the way the course is structured (see "Course Policies").
In addition to providing in depth information about assignments, the course content site provides information found in a traditional syllabus in three places:
- an overview that includes the course description, learning objectives, and list of sources, to be viewed online; and a concise breakdown of assignments and point values, which you should *PRINT AND KEEP* with your course materials.
- a PDF document entitled "Course Policies," which you should *PRINT AND KEEP* with your course materials.
- a schedule of readings that contains numerous links to necessary study materials. **I DO NOT RECOMMEND PRINTING** the course schedule, at least initially; wait until you have been exposed to its use during the first few weeks of class.
