G. Student Learning: Evidence - inquiry reserch project scores

1. Pre/post group and individual inquiry research project scores (5%-6% gain in scores)

“Pre” data represents the scores of 43 blended program students (Fall 2003 and Fall 2004 semesters) prior to project implementation. “Post” data represents the scores of 45 blended students (Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 semesters) during the 1 year hp project implementation.  Modest (5% –6%) but significant and consistent gains in scores were documented on  each of the two group inquiry research project and on the final individual inquriy project.  To establish the validity of the data research projects were scored against the same rubric. The rubric had 7 dimensions and 3 levels of mastery:

  • Organization and appearance
  • Experimental Procedure
  • Graphs and Charts
  • Analysis (What you thought of your data and why)
  • Conclusion
  • Lab Journal
  • Peer evaluation (ability to apply the rubric)
