About Academic Excellence

The Office for Academic Excellence is responsible for assisting faculty and administrators with navigating policies, compliance, and processes related to academic master plan, academic planning, program impaction, program review, assessment of student learning, academic calendar, accreditation, and state authorization.  The office also provides support for the hiring and review of academic administrators as well as textbook affordability initiatives.

Academic Planning & Impaction

Office for Academic Excellence provides academic planning support for program development, modification, and discontinuation, and acts as Sacramento State’s liaison to the CSU Academic Programs and WSCUC.

Program Review & Assessment of Student Learning

Sacramento State’s Academic Program Review Policy requires that each degree program undergo a review every six years.  The process includes a self-study, external team visit, faculty peer input, and action plan.  Specialized program accreditation may be able to serve for part or all of academic program review.

Assessment of student learning is an integral part of our commitment to continuously improve student learning and success.  The Office of Academic Program Assessment (OAPA) provides support for faculty to effectively collect, analyze, and use learning data to continuously improve student learning and success through annual assessment, collaborative project funding, best practice training, and faculty learning communities.

Accreditation & State Authorization

Sacramento State is accredited by WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC), 985 Atlantic Avenue, #100, Alameda, CA 94501, (510) 748-9001.  Accreditation was reaffirmed for 10 years in June 2017.
