Financial Support for Master’s Degree Completion

The Graduate Equity Fellowship provides financial support to eligible Sacramento State master’s students who have experienced educational or economic disadvantages.

Selected students receive an award each semester and may be eligible for continued support for up to four semesters if they continue to meet program requirements. Award amounts may vary by semester.

Designed for: Eligible students currently enrolled full time in a Sacramento State master’s program

Program benefits may include:

• Financial support toward completing a master’s degree
• Awards for up to four semesters
• Recognition as a Graduate Equity Fellow

Prepare for a Research Doctorate and Faculty Career

The California Pre-Doctoral Program supports the doctoral aspirations of eligible CSU upper-division and master’s students who are interested in university teaching and research careers.

Selected applicants become Sally Casanova Scholars and work with a CSU faculty mentor to prepare for admission to a research doctoral program.

Designed for: Eligible CSU upper-division and master’s students preparing to pursue a research doctorate

Program benefits include:

• Individual mentorship from a CSU faculty member
• Up to $5,000 for approved academic and professional-development activities
• Opportunities to visit doctoral-granting institutions
• Support for graduate application fees, examination fees, research materials, professional memberships, and conference participation
• An opportunity to apply for a fully funded summer research experience at a major U.S. research university

Prepare for a Student-Centered Faculty Career

The Chancellor’s Doctoral Incentive Program, or CDIP, supports doctoral students who aspire to become faculty members in the California State University or at institutions with a similar commitment to student success.

Selected applicants become CDIP Fellows and work with a tenured or tenure-track CSU faculty mentor while completing their doctoral studies.

Designed for: Individuals applying to or currently enrolled in an accredited doctoral program in the United States

Program benefits include:

• Mentorship from a tenured or tenure-track CSU faculty member
• Professional development for future university faculty
• Competitive grants supporting research, professional development, conference travel, and dissertation completion
• Access to an optional institutional loan that may qualify for forgiveness through eligible CSU instructional faculty employment

Applicants must identify an eligible CSU faculty mentor as part of the application process. The optional loan is not a scholarship, and loan forgiveness is not automatic.
