Senators and Alternates of the Faculty Senate
Unit Senators/Alternates: Each unit is entitled to one faculty representative. and alternate, who serve two year terms. Electing units having twenty-four or more probationary, tenured and full-time temporary faculty appointments (including faculty participating in FERP or on leave/reduced load, excluding faculty holding administrative appointments) are entitled to one additional representative. Elections are held each spring and each electing unit is responsible for its own election. The call for election is distributed by Faculty Senate Office.
Temporary Faculty Senators/Alternates: The temporary faculty are entitled to four faculty representatives and two alternates (who may act for any of the four facutly representatives). Temporary faculty, nomination and election shall be by and from the temporary faculty holding instructional appointments in the spring semester. Each spring the call for election is distributed by the Faculty Senate Office. The term of office is two years.
To be qualified for nomination and election to the office of representative or alternate, a temporary faculty member shall hold an appointment from the University to no fewer than six (6) WTU’s during the semester in which the election is held. To remain eligible to hold office, a representative or alternate of the temporary faculty shall hold an appointment from the University to no fewer than six (6) WTU's during each semester of the preswcrdibed term of office. Failure to hold the required appointment shall vacate the office.
