Account Advising

Every college student struggles with money, no matter how much they have, there never seems to be enough. Come meet the experts who can show you how to get through college without unnecessary debt. If you are having trouble paying your fees, or any other obligation owed to the University, please come in to discuss the alternatives available to you.

Residency Reclassification: Continuing Students

If you are a continuing student seeking to change your status from non-resident to resident, documentation is required to show you moved to California with the intent of making this state your permanent home and that you have severed all ties with your former state for one year period prior to the residence determination date (September 20th for the Fall semesters and January 25th for the Spring semesters). Visit the CSU Residency Site for more information.

If you feel you meet the above requirements,

  • Please print out the appropriate Residency Reclassification Packet (pdf)
  • Read all of the instructions
  • Complete required fields
  • Attach all required documents
  • Submit in one of the following methods:
    • In Person at the Bursar's Office
      Lassen Hall, Room 1003
    • By Mail
      Sacramento State Bursar's Office
      6000 J Street - MS 6052
      Sacramento, CA 95819
    • Via Dropbox
      Lassen Hall building hours are Monday-Friday: 8:00-5:00.
      The drop box is in front of Room 1001.

Please note: Packets may NOT be submitted via email.

Residency Reclassification: New Students

New Students can change their residency status from non-resident to resident by contacting Residency Screening in Admissions via email or by phone at (916) 278-2529.
