Western Undergraduate Exchange

The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is a program that allows admitted students from participating Western Interstate Commission for Higher Education (WICHE) to pay tuition fees which are 150% of the regular California resident rate.

Eligibility

WICHE members eligible to participate in WUE include:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Guam, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wyoming, the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands, The Republic of the Marshall Islands and American Samoa.

WUE Eligibility Requirements

  • New Freshman and Transfer Students enrolling for the first time may apply for WUE.
  • Meet all admissions and enrollment requirements
  • Be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate, 12 units, or more each semester.
  • Maintain Non-Resident status of California for tuition purposes. While participating in WUE, students are not eligible for California resident tuition. Students cannot apply time accrued while participating in the WUE program to establish California residency.
  • Students pursuing a degree in Nursing majors are not eligible for WUE status
  • Must be new, incoming student for the semester of admittance; current Sacramento State students are ineligible
  • Students may receive WUE tuition for 5 years for First-Year Students and 3 years for Transfer students or until the completion of a bachelor’s degree.

Maintain WUE Status

  • Maintain satisfactory academic progress
  • Be enrolled as a full-time Undergraduate, 12 units or more each semester
  • Maintain a minimum Sacramento State and cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 or better (be in Good Academic Standing)
  • Complete a minimum of 24 units per academic year
  • Maintain Non-Resident status of California for tuition purposes

How do I apply?

All WUE eligible students will receive email correspondence with the WUE Contract once admitted to the university (Fall Semester—March and Spring Semester—October).
