Orientation Leader Application

Qualifications

  • Be a current Sac State student- must be enrolled during the spring semester
  • Have a minimum 2.7 GPA
  • Be in good academic and disciplinary standing
  • Have a positive attitude

Orientation Leader FAQs

What’s the uniform?

We will provide you with the polo and the rest of your uniform is your responsibility to get. The uniform is a green polo, khaki bottoms, and comfortable walking shoes.

What is the time commitment?

This is a full-time summer position. On training days hours are 8:00am - 4:00pm, Monday – Friday. On orientation days hours are from 7:15am - 5:00pm, Monday - Thursday. During the spring semester there is a mandatory class that meets from 5:30 - 8:20pm on Wednesdays.

Am I required to live on campus during the summer?

No, but you are responsible for having reliable transportation to and from campus each work day. You will have the option for on-campus housing subject to tax deductions.

Can I apply to become an Orientation Leader if I am a first-year student?

Yes, you can become an Orientation Leader as a first-year student. Any student who is taking at least 6 units is eligible to apply.

Can I take summer classes as a leader?

Yes, as long as they do not cause time conflicts with the Orientation Leader work hours. We recommend asynchronous if you choose to take a class.

How much do Orientation Leaders get paid?

$16.50/hour

How does being an Orientation Leader benefit me?

Being an Orientation Leader has numerous benefits such as making friendships, networking opportunities with faculty and peers, academic advising training, public speaking and leadership experience, building community, and so much more!

Can I have another on-campus job?

Yes, you can have another on-campus job during the school year. Over summer you can only be an Orientation Leader because this position is 40 hours/week and it takes a lot of dedication.

Are there any perks of being a leader?

Leaders are provided on-campus housing (subject to tax deductions), breakfast and lunch everyday of orientation, new friendships, knowledge of campus, and numerous other perks!

How can I learn more about the orientation leader position?

Returning Orientation Leader Application

Returning Orientation Leaders are knowledgeable representatives of Sac State. They help introduce new students and supporters to the university while also aid in mentoring first-time Orientation Leaders.

Reservation Coordinator Application

The Reservation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing student and parent reservations, coordinates student/leader groups and room assignments, troubleshoots problems during check-in, and answers phone calls and emails.

Reservation Specialist Application

The Reservation Specialist position is an opportunity to work in the New Student Orientation Office, preparing orientation materials, answering the phone, emails and assisting students with their reservations.
