Registering for Orientation

Orientation sessions are based on the student's major. Reservations are required and processed online via your MySacState account. Students who do not attend Orientation will not be permitted to enroll for classes.

  • Transfer Orientation Reservations: Early April
  • First-Year Orientation Reservations: Early April

How to sign up for Orientation

Step One: Accept Admissions

Step Two: Log into MySacState

Step Three: Click STUDENT CENTER in the center of the page.

Step Four: Click Switch To Full Site

Step Five: Click New Student Orientation at the bottom of the page and follow the directions to make your reservation. Orientation sessions are based on major. If your major of interest has changed since you applied to Sac State, select an orientation date based on your new major of interest. To officially change your major, talk with the math advisor at Orientation.

As part of the reservation process, you have the option to add up to two parents or supporters. There is a fee for them to attend and they follow a separate program.

Last Step: When you submit your reservation, you will receive an email confirmation. Confirm your reservation by paying your orientation fee.

To confirm your orientation date, orientation fees are due within 10 days of making your reservation.

Paying Options

There are two options for paying the orientation fee:

Option 1: Payable online using the PAY link below. There is a service fee for this option.

Option 2: Send a check or money order with a copy of your confirmation page to Sacramento State, New Student Orientation, 6000 J Street, CA 95819. Make checks/money orders payable to Sacramento State.


Refund Notification: Orientation fees are refundable if a written cancellation request is received at least two business days in advance of your assigned date. To cancel, email:

* A limited amount of financial assistance is available on a first-come-first-serve basis. This is for students who wish to attend but might otherwise be unable. Financial assistance does not apply to the guest. The orientation fee reduction request will be processed after your Orientation Reservation has been reserved. Fee reduction forms must be received and approved prior to your Orientation date.
