Registering for Orientation

Orientation sessions are based on the student's major. Reservations are required and processed online via your MySacState.

Note: If you are a student in EOP, Guardian Scholars, Full Circle Project, Black Honors College, or CAMP please contact that department directly to register for Orientation.

Students who do not attend Orientation will not be permitted to enroll for classes.

Reservations for Winter 2025 will open November 1st.

Registering for Orientation

Step One: Accept Admissions

Step Two: Log into MySacState

Step Three: Click STUDENT CENTER in the center of the page.

Step Four: Click Switch To Full Site

Step Five: Click New Student Orientation at the bottom of the page and follow the directions to make your reservation. Orientation sessions are based on major. If your major of interest has changed since you applied to Sac State, select an orientation date based on your new major of interest. To officially change your major, talk with the major advisor at Orientation.

As part of the reservation process, you have the option to add up to two supporters (parent, spouse, or family member). There is a fee for them to attend and they follow a separate program.

Last Step: When you submit your reservation, you will receive an email confirmation. Finalize your reservation by paying your orientation fee.

Orientation Fees

To finalize your registration for your orientation session, you are required to pay your orientation fees within 10 days of making your reservation. The New Student Orientation and First Year Engagement Fee covers staffing, food, parking, supplies as well as student and supporter program materials for Orientation, as well as special events throughout your first year including New Student and Family Convocation and Hornet Nest Fest.

Paying Options

There are two options for paying the orientation fee:

Option 1: Payable online using the PAY link below. There is a service fee for this option.

Option 2: Send a check or money order with a copy of your confirmation page to Sacramento State, New Student Orientation, 6000 J Street, CA 95819. Make checks/money orders payable to Sacramento State. In the memo section of the check, it must have the students name and Student ID in order for the check to be processed.

Pay

Refund Notification: Orientation fees are refundable if a written cancellation request is received at least two business days in advance of your assigned date. To cancel, email: orient.reservations@csus.edu.

Fee Reduction Form

If you are submitting a Fee Reduction Form for Winter 2025 orientation, please allow 10 to 15 business days for a response. If approved, the student Orientation fee will be reduced from $180 to $145. Thank you!
