Get Ready to Schedule Your Orientation!
Hey there, future Hornet! If you’re one of the amazing students admitted for Fall 2026, get ready for an exciting start with our New Student Orientation sessions happening in June and July 2026!!
Here’s the scoop: Orientation dates are based on your major, so if you’ve changed your major recently, be sure to select an orientation session that aligns with your new interest. To officially make the change, simply complete the Change Your Major E-Form—easy peasy!
Heads Up: If you’re part of awesome programs like EOP, Guardian Scholars, Full Circle Project, Black Honors College, CAMP, or Project Rebound, give our New Student Orientation office a ring at 916-278-7841 to get your registration sorted.
First Year Students Only: Remember before you can register for Orientation, there’s the new mandatory step for all first-year students: you must complete your housing application. Once your housing application is submitted and you’ve received your confirmation email, you’re ready to take the next step:
- Register through MySacState (See instructions below)
- Call us at 916-279-7841 the following morning after 8 a.m.
Don’t forget, without completion of the housing application you cannot register for orientation, something you don’t want to miss.
Transfer student: You can call our office, and we will be glad to assist you in making your orientation.
And if life gets in the way—like military service, travel, or work commitments—don’t worry! Just email us at orient.reservations@csus.edu, and we’ll work with you to make sure you get started on the right foot.
Mark your Calendar: Reservations for Summer 2026 for the Fall 2026 Academic Session will open on March 16th.

How to Register for Orientation
Step One: Accept your admission offer (your ITE)
Step Two: Log into MySacState
Step Three: Click STUDENT CENTER in the center of the page.
Step Four: Click Switch To Full Site
Step Five: Navigate to your to-do list and complete your housing application.
Step Six: Click New Student Orientation at the bottom of the page and follow the directions to make your reservation. Orientation sessions are based on major. If your major of interest has changed since you applied to Sac State, select an orientation date based on your new major of interest. To officially change your major, talk with the major advisor at Orientation.
Bonus: You can add up to two supporters (a parent, spouse, or family member) to your reservation! There is a fee of $78.00 per guest. Guests have their own orientation schedule to follow and will not be with you all day.
Final Step: After submitting your reservation, you’ll receive an email confirmation. Be sure to finalize your reservation by paying your orientation fee!

Finalize Your Orientation Registration!
Hey future Hornet! To lock in your spot for Orientation, don’t forget to pay your orientation fees.
So, what’s included in this fee? The New Student Orientation and First Year Engagement Fee covers everything from staffing and food to parking and supplies. Plus, it helps fund awesome program materials for both you and your supporters during Orientation!
But that’s not all! Your fee also includes access to special events throughout your first year, like the New Student and Family Convocation and the super fun Hornet Nest Fest!

Payment Options for Orientation Fees
There are two convenient options for paying your orientation fee:
Option 1: Pay online using the PAY link below. Please note that a service fee will apply to this method.
Option 2: Send a check or money order along with a copy of your confirmation page to:

Make checks/money orders payable to Sacramento State. In the memo section of the check, it must have the students name and Student ID in order for the check to be processed.
Refund Notification: Orientation fees are refundable if a written cancellation request is received at least two business days before your assigned date. To cancel, please email orient.reservations@csus.edu. We will not process any cancellations without a written notification .

Financial Assistance for Summer 2026 Orientation
Summer/Fall 2026 fee reductions will be available starting March 16th, when the orientation reservation system opens.
If you require financial assistance, be sure to submit the Fee Reduction Form once it becomes available.
Important Details:
- Please allow 2-3 days for processing your request.
- If your form is approved your orientation fee will be reduced from $220 to $185.
- Ensure you provide all the required information for processing. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
