Exposure Monitoring

Exposure monitoring involves the evaluation of all exposures to potentially harmful chemical, physical, or biological agents and the implementation of control measures to mitigate the exposures.

The monitoring includes both qualitative and quantitative evaluation. Qualitatively, EH&S will observe/inspect the work environment, interview personnel, and potentially use semi-quantitative measurement tools, e.g. colorimetric tubes. Quantitative monitoring consists of measuring specific parameters for the particular type of exposure and comparing the results to established health-based standards for the parameter of interest.

Please contact EH&S with any questions or concerns, or for any additional information regarding employee exposure monitoring.
