Chief of Police

The Office of the Chief of Police is responsible for the administrative duties of the Sacramento State Police Department which include personnel management and training, budgeting, special events planning, and coordination with the campus community and outside agencies.

The Sacramento State Police Department's Chief of Police is Mark M. Iwasa. Chief Iwasa has served at the County of Sacramento, Sheriff’s Department as Undersheriff. He holds two degrees from Sacramento State:  M.A. in Public Policy and Administration (1993) and B.A. in Economics with a minor in Criminal Justice (1990).

Chief Iwasa is a seasoned officer with demonstrated knowledge, experience and skills in federal and California statutory code, case law, civil law and standards.
