California Family Health Study (CFHS)

CFHS is a multi-year research project sponsored by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS). The goal is to assess the nutrition and physical activity of low-income families in CA. CFHS was established as a continuation of the Champions for Healthy Change evaluation study. Through CFHS, CDSS is interested in learning about California residents’ fruit and vegetable consumption, physical activity, and food security, and using this information to improve programs and services throughout the state.

For the CFHS, PRC surveys households with mothers or female caregivers and children (aged 5-17) present in the household.

Information is collected for this study using a telephone survey, which includes: demographics, height and weight, physical activity, and fruit and vegetable consumption and availability. Interviews are conducted in English and Spanish.
