Program Description

L.E.A.D. is open exclusively to students enrolled in College of Arts & Letters degree programs and is designed to identify emerging leaders who will serve as ambassadors, advocates, and representatives of their departments and the College.

As an A&L L.E.A.D. Fellow, you will work alongside College leadership, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners while helping strengthen the Arts & Letters community and advance the mission of Sacramento State.

This is more than a leadership opportunity. It is a chance to represent your discipline, amplify student voices, build meaningful professional connections, and help shape the future of the College.

What L.E.A.D. Fellows Do

As an A&L L.E.A.D. Fellow, you will:

Represent the College at important campus, community, recruitment, alumni, and donor events.
Serve as an ambassador for your department and the College of Arts & Letters.
Welcome and engage prospective students and their families.
Assist with major College and departmental events, including performances, exhibitions, lectures, open houses, and special programs.
Participate in leadership development sessions hosted by the Dean's Office.
Collaborate with fellow student leaders on initiatives that enhance the student experience.
Help strengthen communication between students, departments, and College leadership.
Promote the value and impact of the arts, humanities, communication studies, and creative disciplines.
Support efforts that celebrate student achievement and strengthen the Arts & Letters community.

L.E.A.D. Fellows participate in a full academic year of leadership development and, upon completion, become part of a growing network of Fellows who help mentor and support future cohorts.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

Be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program within the College of Arts & Letters.
Remain enrolled throughout the duration of their appointment.
Be in good academic standing with Sacramento State.
Demonstrate leadership potential, professionalism, and a commitment to service.
Be available to participate in leadership meetings, training opportunities, and College events throughout the academic year.

Important:

Only students pursuing majors, graduate degrees, or credential programs within the College of Arts & Letters are eligible to apply.

Meet Our Inaugural Global Fellows

During the College of Arts & Letters' Soudé Pou Édikasyon educational outreach initiative, which connected with more than 500 students across Guadeloupe, thirteen distinguished student leaders were inducted as the inaugural Global Fellows, representing Lycée Carnot, Lycée de Baimbridge, and Lycée des Droits de l'Homme.

Selected by their schools for their academic achievement, leadership potential, character, and commitment to excellence, these exceptional students represent some of Guadeloupe's most promising young leaders and scholars.

Among them are valedictorians and top-ranked students, recipients of prestigious academic and leadership honors, public speaking and debate champions, accomplished musicians, award-winning student-athletes, multilingual learners, cultural ambassadors, and the recipient of the Miss Inter Lycée Guadeloupe title. Together, they embody the values of leadership, intellectual curiosity, creativity, service, and global citizenship.

Their induction ceremony, held in the presence of leaders from the Académie de la Guadeloupe, representatives of the French Ministry of Education, cultural leaders, distinguished scholars, artists, and community partners, celebrated a shared commitment to educational opportunity, intercultural exchange, and international engagement.

As Global Fellows, they serve as ambassadors for their schools, communities, and future generations of students. Through leadership, scholarship, and cultural exchange, they help build bridges across languages, cultures, and continents while inspiring others to pursue their own global aspirations.
