The Festival of the Arts, A&L’s signature program, is six days of creative performances, exhibits, guest lectures and master classes, showcasing local and national creative and cultural excellence. The Festival highlights the innovative directions taken in our various disciplines and extends student and community learning and engagement beyond the classroom.

Family Sunday Funday & Japan Day
April 21 | Sacramento State Campus | 10AM - 4PM | Free Admission
Family Sunday Funday is an opportunity to welcome the community to our campus for a special day of activities for all ages, including games, entertainment, and hands-on projects spread out across the campus. Free parking is available in Structure 3, floors 1-2 (see map for location)!
This year marks the 16th anniversary of Japan Day, which is hosted by the Sac State Japanese Program and Japan Club as part of Family Sunday Funday The theme for this year is “Omotenashi - Japanese hospitality," and the event features a variety of traditional and modern performances, including a Taiko drumming performance at 1:00pm, martial arts demonstrations, cosplay, Sac State’s Soran Bushi dance, and more. In addition, there are many hands-on learning activities available, such as origami, calligraphy, board games, drawing, and dancing.

Most of our events are free and don't require tickets! Check back for the Festival of the Arts events calendar 2024 to verify if an event requires purchase of ticket.
