The Festival of the Arts is six days of creative performances, lectures and master classes, showcasing the region's creative and cultural excellence.

Francophone Voices

The Francophone Voices festivities are centered on community‑building, cultural exchange, interactive dialogue and information about the Faculty Led Study Abroad program in Senegal. This gathering of the French language and francophone community will also feature francophone dances and music from around the world.

Poetry for Learning. Italian Poetry Reading

Thursday, April 9 @5:00 pm in Redwood Room (Student Union)

Students offer an original public poetry performance by reading aloud their own poems, written in Italian while being enrolled in Italian courses at Sacramento State. The performers are accompanied by fellow students presenting a selected translation of the public reading in English and offering insights on the beauty of poetry for learning.

Valentina or the Serenity

The Department of World Languages and Literatures presents a screening of Valentina or the Serenity, an acclaimed film by Mexican director Ángeles Cruz. The story follows a young girl navigating love and loss after her father’s death, exploring themes of language, memory, and connection. The film is in Spanish and Mixtec with English subtitles.

Japan Day

Every spring, we celebrate Japanese language and culture during “Japan Day.” This will be the 19th year of Japan Day, which is hosted by the Sac State Japanese Program and Japan Club. The theme for this year is “Matsuri - Festival," and the event features a variety of traditional and modern performances, including a Taiko drumming performance, Samurai demonstrations, Sac State’s Soran Bushi dance, and more. In addition, there are many hands-on learning activities available, such as origami, calligraphy, board games, drawing, and lantern making.

Color of Korea

Discover the beauty of Korean folk art! Join the Korean Program at Sacramento State for an immersive experience celebrating Minhwa, the traditional Korean painting style that reflects vibrant colors and symbolic stories, in what promises to be a unique cultural experience for those attending.
