Edward Lee
Path: Educational Leadership, Admin Svcs Cred
As a first-generation Hmong-American born in the United States, school has always been a challenge for me. By the end of my senior year in high school, I did not have enough credits to graduate, thus finishing my high school career at a continuation school. However, in 2011, I got my first teaching job as a dance teacher at a new elementary charter school called Yav Pem Suab Academy. This teaching experience inspired me to go back to school to obtain my teaching credential. Upon obtaining my teaching credential, I began working at Marconi Learning Academy teaching US History and Civics. I recently earned my Master's in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies with an Administrative Credential at Sacramento State. During my spare time, I enjoy dancing, playing volleyball, and spending time with my wife and three sons.

Path: Educational Leadership, Community College
My personal, academic, and professional experiences inform my approach to intentionally serving students. I understand that higher education can transform lives, but it can also marginalize and alienate. Thus, educational equity is critical to creating policies and practices that promote access, degree attainment, and career attainment for underserved communities. My unique perspective helps me manage spaces and systems that support underserved students, promote the success of diverse staff, and advance equity, inclusion, and anti-racism in higher education.
Becky Ricks
Path: Educational Leadership, P-12
I'm thrilled to share my journey to becoming a professional elementary education teacher, despite taking an unconventional path. Starting with an undergraduate degree and business experience, I assisted my husband in running an I.T. company for almost a decade. However, my passion for teaching led me to take a leap of faith and pursue a teaching credential and master's degree, which I completed in May and December 2019, respectively. I hope my story inspires others to pursue their passions, no matter how unconventional the path may seem. Together, let's make a difference in the lives of our students and communities.
