(1) Kailani

Picture of KailaniHi! I'm Kailani (she/her), a third-year graduate student in the MS in Counseling Program, in the Career Counseling concentration. Before joining the program, I earned my BA in Psychology with a Minor in Education from UC Davis. This year, I'm thrilled to be interning at both the Sacramento State Career Center and Caltrans. In these roles, I'll be working with diverse student and professional populations, supporting them as they navigate their career paths. In addition to my fieldwork, I've served as the President of the Student Counseling Society (SCS). I'm especially passionate about holistic, equity-focused career counseling that goes beyond resumes and job titles. Exploring one's career is a powerful avenue for making meaning in life, understanding oneself more deeply, and reclaiming agency.
As a Counseling Ambassador, I'm honored to support prospective students as they consider joining this transformative program. I look forward to sharing my experiences, answering questions, and helping others feel seen, supported, and confident as they take this exciting step towards becoming future counselors. Can't wait to meet with you!

(2) Luis

Image of LuisHello everyone! My name is Luis (he/him), and I am a third-year student in the MS in Counseling Program, in the Career Counseling concentration. I’m a proud Hornet from Sacramento State, where I also earned my bachelor’s degree in Spanish. With over five years of experience in higher education, I will begin interning at community colleges in Fall 2025 to further develop my skills in supporting students from all backgrounds.
As a first-generation college student and bilingual professional, I understand the challenges of navigating higher education and career planning. I am passionate about providing culturally responsive support to diverse populations (especially first-generation, low-income, and BIPOC students) to help them achieve educational and economic equity and reach their full potential in any career they choose.
As an Ambassador, I’m here to support you with questions about the application process, program expectations, or student resources. I look forward to connecting with you and being part of your journey.

(3) Mary

Image of MaryHello! My name is Mary (She/her), and I am a third-year student in the MS in Counseling Program, in the Marriage, Couple, & Family Counseling (MCFC) concentration. I was born and raised in northern California, and earned my BS in Psychology with an emphasis in Biology from UC Davis. I have now made my way across the Yolo causeway to complete my Master's in Sacramento.
As a counselor, I strive to create a non-judgmental space for clients where they feel welcomed, comfortable, and empowered. On the other hand, as an Ambassador, I am excited to share my passion for the field and support prospective students in taking their first steps into the world of psychotherapy.
During my spare time, I love to re-connect with friends, immerse myself in creative hobbies, and listen to music at high volumes. Lastly, I love to meet new people, so if you have any questions about anything at any point in the process, I would be more than happy to help!
