Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator because it gives me the opportunity to use what I have learned so far to help other students in my field of study. As one of the most fundamental courses in computer science, many of the concepts introduced in CSC 15 can be new to many students as it was to me. I know that the process of learning something for the first time can be hard and frustrating at times, so I want to try my best to make that process easier and fun. I am excited to connect and work with new people and I can’t wait to contribute to their success in the course!

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? After I graduate, I hope to begin a successful career with my B.S. in computer science while working on my masters in software engineering. My goal is to go as far as earning my PhD and using my skills and knowledge to help the people in my community.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I'm excited to become a PAL facilitator because I want to help others get through CSC 15, which I know a lot of people struggle with. Also, I see it as a good opportunity to strengthen my own Java skills since I'm still early in the major so I need all the practice I can get. I actually just took CSC 15 last semester so everything that students are learning now is still recent in my mind.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? After I graduate, I want to be a game developer, hopefully for a prestigious studio like Naughty Dog or Double Fine. Also, I want to eventually get my masters in computer science.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I'm excited to work as a PAL facilitator because it gives me the opportunity to be able to assist my peers and share my knowledge on the material CSC20 presents. Since I feel that most people get intimidated by the coding aspect of Computer Science, I hope to give my peers a clear understanding of the concepts and a passion for my favorite aspect of this major.

What do you hope to do when you graduate? I want to enter the field of Software Development as it gives me the opportunity to keep doing what I love. And even if that changes, I hope to be in a career that allows me to continue to enjoy the aspects that I love about Computer Science, whether it be or coding or solving complex issues.

Anna Tran

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator because I love being able to help others learn and understand new ideas. I understand that it can be difficult to learn unfamiliar concepts. Since this is the introductory class to programming, I hope that I can help students succeed and get off to a strong start.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? In my spare time, I like to nap, draw, watch movies, and listen to music. I also enjoy going out with my friends!

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am looking forward to helping my fellow peers succeed in their studies, especially in a field that I am passionate about. It's always rewarding to help someone through a tough problem and then see the lightbulb go off once they put all the pieces together. I think it will be a great semester to guide some of my underclassmen and meet some new faces.

What do you hope to do when you graduate? My overall goal is to work somewhere as a software developer. I'm not too picky about where except front-end web development because I despise it. I am considering going back to school for cybersecurity, but I will see where the road takes me before committing to something like that.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator because I have an immense passion for Computer Science and I am excited to have the opportunity to help other students to feel the same early in their career. These classes are foundational to their future careers so it is essential to fully understand them to be successful in the field.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? When I graduate with my B.S., I hope to pursue a Master's Degree at Sacramento State in Software Engineering, which would be greatly beneficial for my future career when I decide to take a deep dive into the field.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? Having experienced the PALs course as a student last semester, I understand the challenges and the value of collaborative learning. I am excited that this role allows me to contribute to a supportive group environment, helping other engineers who have voluntarily signed up and are committed to academic growth.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? Occasionally, I will go enjoy local live entertainment like Sacramento Kings games, comedy clubs, and music festivals. What I really like is my moments of tranquilly at home cooking, relaxing, and doing nothing. Last semester I joined the CSUS Club, Tabletop Activities and Games (TAG), so that I can indulge in my love of strategic and social board games.

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am excited to be a PAL facilitator because it means I can become part of a group that has personally helped me greatly. Having the ability to join a group of likeminded individuals in a class that is very challenging is essential to any student having trouble trying to grasp the material. Hopefully I can make a positive change on students and help them understand the material to the best of my abilities.

What do you like to do for fun or in your spare time? When I graduate, I plan to move back down to SoCal and pursue a master's in aerospace. Aerospace has always been my passion, and through Sac State I’ve learned that Mechanics of Materials is the discipline I want to specialize in. Combining the two, after the bachelor's degree I would most want to find an industry job that is aerospace or aerospace related and mechanics of materials focused whilst pursuing my master's in aerospace

Why are you excited to work as a PAL facilitator? I am excited to work as a PAL facilitator to continue to deepen my understanding of core ideas of engineering and to strengthen my intuition while helping students learn the material. I hope to provide a relatable learning experience as someone who had difficulty myself the first time around, and to provide direction to students throughout their course.

What do you hope to do when you graduate? I don't yet have a specific goal once I have graduated, but I was fortunate enough to work as a diffusion bonder furnace technician at a local engineering company for a year under a team of talented and varied engineers, alongside hardworking technicians. I hope to use my experience manufacturing a wide range of products in varying fields such as medical, computer technology, heat exchangers, and more to become a good engineer who is able to create well thought out processes that consider the perspectives of everyone involved, especially including technicians, welders, and machinists.
