Semarhy Quiñones, Ph.D. (She/Ella)

Dr. Semarhy Quiñones is from Puerto Rico, where she completed her bachelor’s in microbiology before moving to California for her PhD at UC Davis. As part of the Success Center, she works with students from the CSU-SPaRA at Sacramento State Program and the Sacramento State U-RISE program who are interested in pursuing graduate studies.

Richard, a San Francisco native is a first-generation college graduate of Sacramento State, received his bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and was a member of the SEE Program and the CSU-STEM Pathways and Research Alliance (formerly known as CSU-LSAMP) during his undergraduate studies. After graduating, he served as the SEE Activities Coordinator and Advisor for a little over 3 years before becoming the SEE Services Coordinator in November 2014. As the coordinator, he works to provide a diverse community, resources, and a welcoming environment, while sharing his knowledge about being a successful student, including Prehealth, Graduate Education, Teaching, Research, and preparing for the workforce in STEM. Richard also serves as the club advisor to the Minority Association of Premedical Students (MAPS) and staff advsior to the ASI Natural Science and Mathematics Joint Commitee (NSMJC).
Student Assistants
Shajia Farzeen
Shajia is majoring in Business Adminitration with a concentration in Accountancy. She derives satisfaction from assisting her fellow students in developing innovative study tactics and offering support for their academic achievements. In her spare time, Shajia enjoys watching movies and trying new food and drink places. She is looking forward to meeting everyone and helping them out when she can.
Kaysha (Kay) Graham
Kay transferred from Sacramento City College and is majoring in Biological Sciences. She aspires to become a pediatrician. Kay loves cars, working out, and her pets. She is excited to bring her positive energy to the team and help students on campus. She can’t wait to meet you all!
SEE Ambassadors
The SEE Ambassadors are the peer mentors of the SEE Program. SEE Ambassadors meet with students to help them get familiar with resources in the SEE Program, Center for Science and Math Success, the College and University. Ambassadors help in cultivating a welcoming community where students feel they belong and connect with others that will allow them to be successful in their education at Sacramento State. Ghazal Bavi
Ghazal is currently majoring in Biological Sciences with a minor in Journalism. Her career goal is to become a Physician Assistant. She is currently working on getting her clinical medical assistant certification. She has worked in retail, with children, and in restaurants. During her free time, she enjoys shopping, spending time with her sisters, friends, and family.
Sara Delgado
Sara is a fourth-year Biological Sciences major and transfer student with a goal of becoming a physician in primary care one day. She has gained experience through clinical shadowing and is navigating the pre-med journey. She is excited to support fellow students as they pursue their goals. During her free time, she loves watching soccer, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her family.
