Richard W. Fish Scholarship

The purpose of this scholarship is to honor Dr. Fish legacy of mentoring chemistry majors and pre-health students by supporting students interested in pursuing pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-veterinary careers or advanced degrees in chemistry.

Fish came to Sac State in 1964 and has then left many wonderful memories. He is known for giving unconditional support and encouragement to all of his students that have crossed his path. Sac State will never forget the great things that Professor Fish did for this campus during his time here.

The Schrödinger Equation Scholarship

An image of Dan and Mary DeciousDan Decious, professor of chemistry, emeritus and Mary Decious, an alumna of the Biological Sciences and Chemistry departments created this scholarship in 2018 to help support and encourage you toward reaching your academic goals.

‘Dr. Dan’, as he was affectionately known, was an inspiring lecturer, mentor and advisor.   He was a passionate champion for students, dedicated to helping them realize their academic goals.  His humor and commitment turned daunting curriculums into enjoyable semesters, backed by the “HELP! Office” he originated.  His office was an open door to individual tutoring and spirited chalkboard problem-solving sessions.

For over forty years, Dan and Mary were inseparable partners in love and in life.  They value the laws and processes of the natural world and support the advancement of educational opportunities.   It is their shared hope that this scholarship contributes to your success at CSUS and beyond.

The Schrödinger Equation Scholarship is intended to provide a meaningful source of financial support and encouragement to CSUS chemistry majors.
