Gale Gault Memorial Scholarship
Established in memory of Gale Gault, a 1984 Sacramento State Geography alumna, this scholarship aims to encourage and support women pursuing studies in geography. Gale's passion for geography and her commitment to education inspired the creation of this award, which provides $1,000 to students who demonstrate academic promise and a dedication to promoting women's representation in the field. This scholarship not only honors Gale's legacy but also fosters diversity and inclusion within the discipline.
Jack Mrowka Memorial Scholarship
This fund was established in 2002 to honor the memory of Dr. Jack Mrowka, former professor and Chair of the Geography Department. Dr. Mrowka was known for the energy, enthusiasm and drive he brought to his work and to his students. This fund in his honor supports multiple $2,000 awards a year to upper-division or post-graduate Geography majors with academic promise and who have a vision of how Geography and its perspectives can help them achieve their personal and professional goals.
Roberts Geospatial Lab Fund
Located in Sequoia Hall, the Geospatial Lab serves as a hub for GIS education and research. Equipped with state-of-the-art technology, it offers students hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, preparing them for careers in geospatial sciences.
Geography Student Conference Fund
This fund empowers Sacramento State Geography students to participate in academic conferences and professional development activities by providing financial support for expenses such as travel, registration, and lodging. By attending events like the California Geographical Society and the Association of Pacific Coast Geographers meetings, students can present their research, engage with experts in the field, and build valuable professional networks. These experiences are instrumental in enhancing their academic and career trajectories, particularly for those aspiring to graduate studies or careers in geography-related fields. Donations to this fund directly contribute to the growth and success of our students by removing financial barriers to these enriching opportunitiestion.
