Jucu de Sus Forensic Anthropology & Bioarchaeology Field School, SUM '26

Field School:

This Forensic Anthropology and Bioarchaeology field school is a 5-week structured and comprehensive participant-centred program that teaches both the excavation of human skeletal remains (inhumations, cremations, forensic contexts) and the full suite of post-excavation skeletal analyses.

The field school also includes a one-of-a-kind 5-day cultural field trip through Transylvania, exploring the beautiful Transylvanian countryside, archaeological sites, cities, medieval churches, glacial lakes in the Carpathian Mountains, and of course trips to Dracula’s castle and birthplace!

Spaces are very limited, so early applications are advised to avoid disappointment. Academic transcripts are available to students at no additional cost and may be used for academic credit subject to approval from the home institution.

For more information and to download our application, please see the flyer or visit: https://www.transylvania-bioarchaeology.org/application-form
