Pi Sigma Alpha Political Honor Society

Founded in 1920, the national political science honor society (www.pisigmaalpha.org) aims to foster excellence in learning and in public service. It does so by recognizing academic achievement in the discipline of political science and by honoring those who have served the public well. In the last several years, our Pi Sigma Alpha chapter has not been active. Thus, while the chapter will not organize to undertake activities per se, applications will be accepted for membership to eligible students.

Eligibility Requirements

Membership is open to juniors, seniors, and graduate students currently enrolled in programs of Government/Political Science.

Undergraduates must be at least juniors with a GPA of 3.0 (both CSUS overall and in major) who have completed twelve (12) units in political science, nine (9) of which must be upper division, and who majored in Political Science, Political Science/International Relations, or Political Science/Journalism.

Graduate students must have completed nine (9) graduate credits in Political Science with no grade lower than a B. Undergraduate coursework does not count towards graduate student eligibility, and graduate students must be pursuing a degree in Political Science.

Evidence of membership is provided by a certificate which the chapter presents to its new members. In addition, if you wish to purchase a ΠΣΑ Graduation Medallion and/or an Honor Cord (see Pi Sigma Alpha Merchandise), you can add the cost for these items to your initiation fee payment.

Applying for Membership

Qualified students must submit a completed Membership Application Form. Students who meet all eligibility requirements will receive an invitation to pay membership fees and purchase merchandise from the Pi Sigma Alpha National office.
