welcomes Dr. Saahir Shafi as its new Hazel Cramer Endowed Chair
Dr. Saahir Shafi joins the Department of Public Policy and Administration as Hazel Cramer Endowed Chair and assistant professor. Her research focuses on the intersection of comparative public policy and public health with additional interests in governance and political science. Her work incorporates aspects of both behavioral and institutional insights into public policy and governance. Dr. Shafi’s research empirically evaluates policymaking in crisis, focusing on intentional policy design and errors in information processing at the individual and subsystem level, and institutional friction at the macro level. She received her PhD from Pennsylvania State University in Public Administration with an emphasis on Health Policy. Dr. Shafi was previously a faculty member at CSUDH where she was actively engaged in community engaged teaching, research, and service.
