Asst. Professor Kumar Co-authors Article

Fine wine at discount prices?

We're excited to share a new peer-reviewed publication by faculty member Amal Kumar, Ph.D., co-authored with Tami Christopher (American International College) and Todd Benson (Harvard Graduate School of Education).

The article reviews the (lack of) literature on the part-time faculty workplace on its own terms instead of as a '“less than“ version of the full-time/tenure-track workplace. In the paper, Professor Kumar and his colleagues find evidence for a normative devaluation of the part-time faculty workplace and assess the implications of the relative lack of research on institutional efforts at diversifying the professoriate.

The article is published open-access through the Research and Occasional Paper Series published by the UC Berkeley Center for Studies in Higher Education.
