Anthropology

Scholarships will be awarded at our annual conference.

Scholarship Name Description
Academic Achievement Awarded to a graduating Anthropology Major within the Academic Year (who has the best overall performance as a student.
John W. Connor Scholarship Awarded in consort with Dr. John W. Connor to the Anthropology Major with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA).
Edgar Lee Jordan Anthropology Scholarship Instituted in memory of Professor Edgar Lee Jordan, this award recognizes the potential contribution by an anthropology student to the field of Anthropology via participation in research, presentation to a conference, and/or participating in a field school.
George Rich Graduate Scholarship Instituted in memory of Professor George Rich, this award recognizes the potential contribution by an anthropology graduate student to the field of Cultural and/or Linguistic Anthropology through their research focus.

Professor Thomas Swift Asian Studies Scholarship The Professor Thomas Swift Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998.

Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program

Scholarship Name Description
CWSCA Scholarship Scholarship awards for students involved in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Carol J Barbee Scholarship Awards to students for tuition, books, and lab fees only. Priority will be given to Social Science and Liberal Studies majors.
LaVera J. Gaston Scholarship Scholarship awards for students involved in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Anna J. Cooper - Carter G. Woodson Scholarship Scholarship awards for students involved in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Chris Glenn Cooper-Woodson College Scholarship Scholarship awards for students involved in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program. 
Jeanette Girod Scholarship This scholarship honors Ms. Jeannette Girod's commitment to education, providing awards for students involved in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.

Economics

The John G. Ranlett Memorial Scholarship in Economics  This scholarship is open to undergraduate Economics students.
The Robert L. and Chi-Ming Dana Curry Scholarship This scholarship is open to undergraduate (juniors and seniors) and graduate students pusuing a major in Economics.

Environmental Studies

Frederick Walden Brown Memorial The Frederick Walden Brown Memorial is to encourage students majoring in Humanities, Liberal Arts, Education, Environmental Studies or Music.
Patrick James Dugal  To honor the memory of Patrick James Dugal, the Dugal family has established a scholarship for students pursuing a profession in the Environmental Studies field.
Thomas Swift Environmental Studies The Swift Endowed Scholarship was created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998. Professor Swift passed away September 29, 2016, at the age of 82. This scholarship is intended to support students at Sacramento State who are majoring in Environmental Studies.  

Ethnic Studies

Yocha Dehe Wintun Nation Scholarship To offer students from any major, enrolled in at least one course from the Native American Studies Program, a better understanding of California Indian histories, issues, and experiences.
Lesego Mosupyoe Memorial Scholarship Scholarship awards for students in the Cooper Woodson College Enhancement Program.
Thomas Swift Asian American Studies Scholarship Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sac State from 1966 to 1998, created this scholarship to support Asian American Studies students.
Nakatani Asian American Studies Scholarship Available for students of any major who have demonstrated a commitment and potential for leadership in the Asian American community.

Family & Consumer Sciences

M. Catherine Starr Memorial Scholarship For Home Economics students who show not only an academic interest in that field but also an involvement in outside Home Economic associations.
Apparel, Marketing, and Design Scholarship This scholarship will assist a qualifying FACS student pursuing studies in Apparel, Marketing, and Design.

Gerontology

Osborne and Stearns Gerontology The Osborne and Stearns Gerontology scholarship will be use to assist students with an interest in gerontology and working with the senior population

Political Science

Scholarhip Name Description
Christopher Dyer-Bennet Scholarship This scholarship recognizes the outstanding student in student groups, such as the Political Theory Forum.
College Futures Foundation  Scholarship This scholarship provides awards to students in Political Science, including those with a concentration in International Relations.
Donald R. Gerth Scholarship in Political Science Encourages the study of government and international relations through financial assistance to outstanding students.
Douglas E. McDaniel Memorial Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the memory of Douglas E. McDaniel and to assist Political Science students with a concentration in International Relations.
Jack Livingston Fellow in Political Theory & American Institutions Scholarship This scholarship honors the memory of Professor John C. “Jack” Livingston and the ideals in which he believed.
Professor R. Jeffrey Lustig Memorial Prize Scholarship Provides awards to recognize students on the basis of an undergraduate research paper on social and political theory, university politics, and/or California politics.
Robert G. Thompson Memorial Scholarship The purpose of this scholarship is to honor the memory of Robert G. Thompson, Government professor emeritus, and to assist students through financial support.
Thomas Swift Political Science/Journalism Scholarship This scholarship supports Political Science students concentrating in journalism and was created by Professor Thomas Swift, a history professor at Sacramento State from 1966 to 1998.
Wade R. Smith Memorial Scholarship This scholarship is in honor of Wade R. Smith, who was a professor in the Department of Political Science at Sacramento State. It is intended to support Political Science students.

Psychology

June Gersten Memorial Scholarship in Psychology Provides financial assistance to students in the Psychology Pre-Doctoral program.
