Summer Youth Academies (grades 7-12)

Our academies offer an exciting opportunity for students in 7th to 12th grades to explore a variety of subjects, preview college through academic, hands-on career exploration, and interactive projects and coaching. Our academy students will:
- Explore educational and career opportunities in various fields
- Discover new academic and creative challenges in topics not always available in regular school
- Work with other students on real-world projects
- Get a preview of college
- Learn from Sacramento State professors, community college faculty, area public and private school teachers and industry professionals
Summer Youth Academies for 7th-10th graders and 9th-12th graders are led by campus faculty and industry experts in a variety of disciplines including Computer Science, Engineering, Public Safety, Arts, Business, and more.
LegiSchool Civics Virtual Institute
The LegiSchool Civics Virtual Institute gives a select number of California high school students the unique opportunity to participate in a remote 4-week summer program that explores important policy issues in California and provides students the tools to develop leadership and professional skills. A stipend will be provided to the student at the completion of the summer program. Applications will be accepted through May 31, 2026. Please visit our website for more information and to apply.
Youth Summer Camps

Peak Adventures
Kids need experiences like Summer Camp, now, more than ever. Our program is an outdoor youth summer camp based out of Sacramento State providing ample space to be outside, in fresh air, and experiencing the wonder and magic of camp. All of our camps are designed to get campers off of their devices with a focus on creating memorable camp experiences in a safe, fun, and enriching environment.
Junior Explorer Camp (ages 8-11)
The Aquatic Center has been involved with youth programs for over 35 years and is recognized as the benchmark for boating safety. The Aquatic Center’s focus is creating high-quality camp experiences in a safe, fun and enriching experience. The Youth Camps are for children between the ages of 7 to 17 and we provide the following camps; Basic (Sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking), Water Ski & Wake board, Sailing, Paddle, Adventure, Personal Water Craft (“Jet Ski”), Rowing and more.

STEM Summer Camps & Coding Programs
Get a taste of collegiate life this summer at CSU Sacramento! Our STEM camps strike the perfect balance between skill development and summer fun, allowing kids and teens to experience a week at one of the best regional universities in the west and one of the "greenest" campuses in the world. Your child will work alongside new friends and learn from expert tech instructors, while taking breaks in between to enjoy Sacramento State's outdoor playing fields for ultimate frisbee, capture the flag, kickball, board games, and more!
Athletics Youth Camps
Youth sports camps provide the opportunity to grow skills, meet and interact with Sac State Hornet student athletes, and have fun! All Sacramento State camps are open to any and all entrants per NCAA rules, but are limited as noted on the following camp flyers by number, age, grade level and/or gender.

ASI Peak Adventures offers outdoor trips, gear rentals, team building at the Challenge Center, summer camps, and a full service bike shop! All services are open to Alumni.

Sac State Aquatic Center (alumni/families/community)

Located on the beautiful Lake Natoma in Gold River, the Aquatic Center is a National Boating Instruction Safety Center where we offer classes, camps, facility reservations, team building, youth groups, and equipment rentals. So, you don’t have to have your own equipment to enjoy beautiful Lake Natoma. The Aquatic Center is open to the general public. Be sure the claim your free Alumni Association membership and pay the discounted affiliate rate on equipment rentals.
Learning Opportunities (alumni/community)
Summer Sessions
Summer Session offers Sac State and visiting students the opportunity to take classes over the summer during two 6-week sessions and one 12-week session. The short sessions allow students the flexibility to complete graduation requirements and advance toward degree goals while pursuing other interests over the summer.

Renaissance Society Summer Programs
The Summer Program will have tours and presentations from local sports entities, recreational centers, museums, arts and media, all representative of the rich community we enjoy in Sacramento. The program will begin on Thursday, May 28 and the last program will be on Friday, Jul. 31. Signups are on Eventbrite; you will find specific links for each week by visiting out summer programs page. Sacramento Pride March and Parade
We’re excited to share that Sacramento State will be hosting a table in this year’s Sacramento Pride Festival on June 13-14. We are looking for volunteers to help staff our outreach table throughout the event and invite all students, faculty, staff, and campus partners are invited to join us in showing up proudly as One Hornet Family.
