IDEA Competition Guidelines and FAQs

The Incentive for Developing External Awards (IDEA) Program aims to encourage individual faculty to write a competitive grant proposal for external funding. These external proposals should further their research, scholarly and/or creative activity and contribute new knowledge or novel scholarship to their discipline. To apply, faculty members must identify one specific grant solicitation or formal request for proposals to which they are interested in submitting a proposal. The IDEA program is offered every Fall and Spring semester and faculty must submit a proposal within a defined submission window. See guidelines, submission instructions and timeline below.

2025-26 IDEA Guidelines and FAQs

Fall 2025

• For proposals submitted between February 1, 2025 - July 31, 2026
• Guidelines and FAQ
• Proposals are due October 24, 2025, 5:00pm

Spring 2026

• For proposals submitted between July 1, 2026 - January 31, 2027
• Guideline will be posted in early February
• Proposals will be due in early April
