Virtual Workshops
The Feria de Educación Curriculum Committee is excited to announce the 2021 Virtual Workshop schedule!
This year, Feria de Educación offered workshops on topics ranging from the process of applying to college, college eligibility requirements, financial aid options, support for undocumented students, the role of parents in their children’s education, and much more! Workshops were organized in tracks to help participants determine what information best applied to them. Track 1 was designed for high school students planning to apply to college in the future. Track 2 was specifically for students currently attending a community college and looking to transfer in the future, or community college students who have already applied to transfer to Sacramento State and have been admitted or are waiting to hear back about their admission. Track 3 was for parents and guardians, all the workshops and resources in this track were offered in Spanish. See below for the list of workshops pertaining to each track.

Track 1: High School Students

Options After High School (CC, CSU, UC) | This workshop provided high school students with an overview of the three main systems of higher education in California. Participants learned about the differences between the California Community College, California State University (CSU), and University of California (UC) system. |
CC & CSU Admissions Eligibility | This workshop focused on the admission requirements, the application process, fees and available fee waivers, the timelines to apply, test requirements, and more when applying to the Community College (CC) of the California State University (CSU) system. |
UC Admissions Eligibility | This workshop focused on the admission requirements, the application process, fees and available fee waivers, the timelines to apply, test requirements, and more when applying to the University of California (UC) system. |
CSU Application Process Step-by-step | This workshop provided students with a step-by-step presentation on how to complete a college admissions application for high school students planning to attend a California State University (CSU). |
CC Application Process Step-by-step | This workshop provided students with a step-by-step presentation on how to complete a college admissions application for high school students planning to attend a Community College (CC). |
UC Application Process Step-by-step | This workshop provided students with a step-by-step presentation on how to complete a college admissions application for high school students planning to attend the University of California (UC). |
What Is Financial Aid? /Us Bank | This workshop introduced the different types of financial aid opportunities, the requirements for the FAFSA application, and how to search and apply for scholarships. |
Track 2: Transfer Students

Transfer To a University (CSU, UC) | This workshop provided transfer students with an overview of the California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC) systems. Participants learned about the differences between the two systems. |
CSU & UC Eligibility For Transfer Students | This workshop focused on the application process for transferring to a California State University (CSU) or University of California (UC). It discussed admission requirements, fees and available fee waivers, the timelines to apply, test requirements, and more. |
What’s Next After You Applied? | This workshop focused on the next steps for transfer students who have been admitted to Sac State for Spring 2022. Topics included submitting intent to enroll (ITE), upcoming deadlines, required documentation for Financial Aid, etc. |
CSU Application Process Step-by-step | This workshop provided a step-by-step presentation on how to complete an application for college admission for students planning to transfer to a CSU. Students were recommended to bring a copy of their academic records and any other necessary documentation to apply. |
UC Application Process Step-by-step | This workshop provided students with a step-by-step presentation on how to complete a college admissions application for transfer students planning to transfer to a UC. |

Mitos y Leyendas de la Universidad | Este taller se enfocó en conceptos erróneos y malentendidos comunes sobre la educación superior. Ayudó a los padres a comprender el proceso de ir a la universidad para que puedan apoyar mejor a sus hijos. |
El papel de los Padres en la Educacion de sus hijos/as | Este taller se enfocó en las expectativas de ser el padre de un estudiante universitario. Los padres obtuvieron herramientas para convertirse en firmes defensores y partidarios de la educación de sus hijos desde K-12 hasta la educación superior. |
Que es la Ayuda Financiera? | Este taller se enfocó en la ayuda financiera y como pagar la colegiatura. Ayudó a los padres a entender qué tipos de ayuda existen, incluyendo becas, préstamos y dinero federal y estatal. |
HEP: Obtén tu Diploma de Escuela Secundaria | Este taller brindó información y recursos a los estudiantes interesados en obtener un diploma de escuela secundaria a través de GED o examen de equivalencia de escuela secundaria. |
Taller para Padres de Estudiantes Indocumentados | Este taller se enfocó en el proceso de ingresar al colegio o la Universidad para estudiantes indocumentados. Temas incluyeron el proceso de admission, oportunidades para ayuda financiaera, y como los padres puede apoyar a sus hijos en sus estudios. |
