Ernest E. Tschannen: A Century of Impact
Ernest E. Tschannen is a history-making donor at Sacramento State.
In May 2025, we gathered to celebrate his 100th birthday and how his significant contributions catalyzed the creation of the University’s first donor-named academic building — the Ernest E. Tschannen Science Complex.
What followed was a wave of investment in students, science, and discovery that continues to shape the future of our region.
A Legacy That Sparked a Movement
Ernest E. Tschannen, a Swiss immigrant and successful real estate investor, believes deeply in giving back. His gifts helped bring the Science Complex to life.
Today, his legacy lives on in every student who finds their path through research, every child who discovers the stars in the planetarium, and every faculty member pushing the boundaries of knowledge.
"It will help for generations to come."
