A class electronic discussion group will be used for group discussions along with CHAT and Web Conferencing.

  • Know the differences between theater and other kinds of entertainment.
  • Know the differences between traditional and non-traditional theater spaces.
  • Know the different kinds of play structures.
  • Know the content and structure of Master Harold and Death of a Salesman
  • Write several focused responses (Click NOTES below), ask questions, think about play structure.

Group Activities: You were assigned to either Group A or B on the first class meeting. For Harold Group A will respond via E-Mail with Questions and Play Structure Observations. Group B will E-Mail their responses to the specific question assigned to each student individually on the first class meeting. See Directed Response NOTES for Master Harold and Salesman .

See the video as early as possible in the week due. Group A must Mail in their Questions and observations about play structure for Harold by Sun. Feb. 14.

Group B must mail in their Directed responses for Harold by Sun. Feb. 14.

Note: For Salesman Groups A becomes B (writes directed responses)and B becomes A (writes Questions and Structure Observations.)

Take the Student survey on technology skills and knowledge.

 

Paper #1

 

 

 

You've all participated in the on line discussion for the first two plays. Some of the responses from your classmates on the NOTES for each play must have intrigued you. Select one of the topics from the Notes for either play and write a 3 page paper on that topic. You may incorporate your classmates' ideas as well as using your own, but footnote your classmates' ideas to give credit where credit's due.

NOTE: Your essay should br analytical so don't re-tell the plot. Analyze the content of one specific aspect of the play. Refer back to Essay Expectations on the Syllabus Page for Grading Expectations.

 

 Paper #1 due 2/23 in class. Remember:This is the week we re-group in person.Class discussion thisweek will bringclosure to Unit 1.

Graded papers will be mailed to your home the next week while you are working on Unit 2. Revisions (if necessary) due 4/6.
