APIDA Speaker Series
The Speaker Series reflects the mission of the center to foster the understanding of the social, cultural and educational experiences and issues that impact APIDA students and their communities. Each semester, the series will introduce students to diverse perspectives, open discussion and bring together the campus community to identify solutions and/or opportunities to elevate and advance student success.
The Speaker Series events are free and open to the public.
APIDA Welcome Week
Each Fall semester, the APIDA Welcome Week goal is to promote an appreciation for and education of the complex history, culture and tradition of the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American communities and people who represent over forty countries and hundreds of languages among members of the Sacramento State community. Each day during this week of celebration is led by a different community organization to increase students’ community connections as a vehicle to expand resources to support their success.
Taste of Asia and the Pacific
Taste of Asia and the Pacific goal is to promote Asian and Pacific Islander traditions, history, and culture through cuisine from various regions of Asia and Asian Pacific Islander communities in Sacramento. Once a year, restaurants from the region come to campus and are a catalyst for conversations that bring faculty, staff and students together. The Taste of Asia and the Pacific supports the Asian Pacific Islander Desi College Day, an event to promote early awareness of college to high school students and support student scholarships.
The APIDA Student Art Contest
The APIDA Student Art Contest winners were selected by faculty, staff and community members of original works that will be displayed in the APIDA Center. Congratulations to all the submissions.
