Sophomore Bridge

June 25 to August 1, 2024

Sophomore Bridge is a FREE 6-week virtual summer academic program designed to support a student’s transition into their sophomore year. The program is optional for EOP students and open to Sacramento State University students who come from underrepresented backgrounds.

The program offers students the opportunity to complete their English 20 graduation requirement while participating in co-curricular workshops that will enhance their personal, academic, and professional growth.

Graduation Writing Assessment (GWAR)

Participants are placed in academic courses based on their Writing Placement for Juniors (WPJ) scores. Students who score 3 - Competent Writer on the WPJ allows you to enroll concurrently in ENG 109X (tutoring) and ETHN 100 (writing intensive). Students who score a 4 - Strong Writer or 5 - Exceptional Writeron the WPJ are eligible to take the ETHN 100 Courses.

Attendee Information

Virtual Program

Course modality is an online synchronous format. Attendance is mandatory for all classes. The virtual option requires students to access the internet and a computer to do their assignments, attend classes, and workshops which will be offered through Canvas and Zoom.

Apply

To be considered for the program, students must complete the application by clicking the link below. Conditional acceptance will be given until the program prerequisites have been completed. Deadline to apply is April 28, 2024.

Students will need to complete the following prerequisite this academic year to be eligible:

  • Completion of English 5/5M or English 11/11M with a C- or higher (before Summer 2024)
  • Sophomore Standing (Must have completed 30 Units prior to Summer 2024)

Sophomore Bridge Application

Program Cost

Summer Bridge is FREE! However, you must be enrolled for the Fall 2024 semester for the course to be credited. Classes taken during Summer Bridge will be added to your Fall schedule, and no action is required by the student. Students enrolled in less than 12 units in the fall are responsible for paying those extra fees. If the student enrolls in less than 12 units in the fall, withdraws for the Fall 2024 semester Summer Bridge classes cannot be posted or credited.
