Student Services
Mission
The mission of the Sacramento State Undocumented Student Resource Center is to provide assistance, resources, and knowledge to support members of the Hornet community. We strive to make the dream of a college degree a reality. Through comprehensive advocacy, emergency support, and community-centered programming, we create spaces where immigrant joy and resilience flourish.
Goals
- Grow the United Scholars Volunteer Program, connecting students to service opportunities that build valuable career skills, hands-on experience, and earn additional financial aid.
- Expand student leadership and career pathways post-graduation through mentorship, workshops, and the Monarch Scholars Program.
- Deepen partnerships with local organizations and small businesses to widen the resources, scholarships, and opportunities available to students.

In honor of “I Stand with Immigrants Day of Action,” the Undocumented Student Resource Center and Capital Storytelling invite the campus to the Annual Immigrant Stories event. This powerful evening highlights the voices and experiences of immigrants in Sacramento as they share their personal stories live on stage.

The Keeping the Dream Alive (KDA) Conference is a hybrid national gathering of educators, practitioners, and professionals dedicated to supporting the success of undocumented and mixed-status students, providing opportunities to share knowledge, explore innovative practices, and connect with colleagues across the country.

Areli Pinedo can support students with general education and graduation requirements. She is an ally and directly supports students at the Undocumented Student Resource Center.
Weekly drop-in schedule (appointments preferred):
- Mondays from 1 - 5 p.m.

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Mental Health & Well-Being
Dream Connections
Every Wednesday from 12 - 1:30 p.m.
A well-being support group open to all that provides a space for connection on culture, heritage, and life as an undocumented student, a student with a mixed-status family, and all students at Sac State.
Free lunch is provided at every session
Rooted in Resistance Group Counseling
A supportive space to come together, share feelings if you choose, and breathe.

Fellowships & Scholarships
The California Dream Act Service Incentive Grant (DSIG) Program encourages California Dream Act Applicant (CADAA) students with a Cal Grant A award that meet Cal Grant B eligibility or a Cal Grant B award to perform community or volunteer service. Sac State CA Dream Act students can participate in a volunteer service program on and off campus. See below for more details.
Grant Award Amount: $2,250/ per semester
Volunteer Hours Required: 150 hours/semester
Requirements: Must be a Cal Grant B recipient
Steps to Apply to an On Campus Volunteer Opportunity
- Schedule an appointment with Rodolfo, Assistant Coordinator of the USRC- rodolfojchavez@csus.edu if you are not sure where you would like to complete your hours.
- Reach out to the volunteer site supervisor via email to let them know you are interested in volunteering with them. Please note that some volunteer sites may interview you to determine if you are a good fit.
- Once your volunteer opportunity has been confirmed, submit your DSIG Grant Application on WebGrants 4 Students to obtain Financial Aid’s confirmation of your eligibility.
- Download completed form and have the staff or faculty who you will be volunteering with sign it.
- Complete the Student Agreement (section 4) of the form.
- Email the completed form to dsig@csac.ca.gov
