Hornet Connect

Sacramento State proudly introduces an initiative to support Sacramento State Scholars to achieve their best. The program entitled Hornets Connect aims to provide students with collegiate support to advance their degrees. To boost success in retention and persistence, Hornets Connect leads campaigns to help students stay on track to graduation. Components of the program include:

• Peer Coaching
• Navigation of Campus Resources
• Engagement Events
• Customized phone, text, and email campaigns
• Mentoring
• Student Support Services
• Registration Assistance

Strategic Background and Focus

The Hornets Connect Program proactively supports students in navigating their needs within a dynamic learning environment through outreach in various formats. The program aids students in navigating university processes and addresses issues related to registration, finances, and health to ensure their success. Peer Coaches connect with students to engage in individual outreach to answer students' questions and link them to appropriate campus resources. The primary objective of Hornets Connect is to assist students in achieving their academic goals and persisting to graduation. Personnel in the program undertake tasks that many departments may find challenging, such as reaching out to large groups of students individually to disseminate critical information or gather data.

In addition to individual outreach campaigns, Program Peer Coaches also serve as mentors to various program groups not currently served by other campus programs. Peer Coaches engage in one-on-one meetings with students and participate in social engagement events throughout the year. They establish personal relationships with students, guiding them to campus resources and offering support services that transform the student experience.
