Lantern Festival & Pop-Up Market: Illuminate the Hive

Start off the semester with good energy, new connections, and a celebration of community. The Lantern Festival & Pop-Up Market is the perfect opportunity to unwind, meet new friends, explore diverse cultures, and experience one of Student Affair's signature campus events.

About the Event

In celebration of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival, join the Lantern Festival & Pop-Up Market: Illuminating the Hive. Enjoy an evening featuring cultural performances, interactive activities, food trucks, local artisan and craft vendors, illuminated lantern displays, and opportunities to connect with the Sacramento State community.

As Sacramento State continues to strengthen its commitment as an Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) designated institution, this signature event celebrates the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of AANHPI communities while fostering belonging, inclusion, and community.

This event is open to all Sacramento State students, faculty, and staff. We are committed to creating a welcoming environment where everyone can fully participate and feel respected.

Lantern Walk

Stroll beneath hundreds of glowing LED lanterns as they illuminate the heart of the festival, creating a magical and immersive evening experience. The Lantern Walk is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful evening stroll, capture memorable photos, create social media moments, and connect with each other while celebrating community and culture.

Lantern Decorating Station

Express your creativity by decorating your own lantern while celebrating the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Participants are invited to design personalized lanterns and write messages of hope, gratitude, or well wishes, creating a meaningful keepsake that symbolizes light, unity, and community.

Festival Photo Booth

Capture unforgettable memories at our Festival Photo Booth inspired by the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. It's the perfect place to celebrate the evening with each other while making lasting memories of this special event.

Pop-Up Market

Explore our vibrant Pop-Up Market featuring student entrepreneurs, local businesses, artists, and community organizations. It's a wonderful opportunity to support local creators, connect with community resources, and celebrate the creativity and diversity of the Sacramento State community.

Cultural Performances

Experience an exciting lineup of live cultural performances showcasing the rich traditions and expressions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Throughout the evening, enjoy music, dance, and other performances that celebrate heritage, promote cultural appreciation, and bring the Sacramento State community together.

Yes! Admission is completely free. Simply RSVP to reserve in advance and join us for an evening of fun.

Yes. While the event is free, we encourage all attendees to RSVP so we can prepare for attendance and ensure the best experience for everyone.

Visitor parking is available in campus parking structures and lots. Standard campus parking fees may apply.
