Staff & Faculty Involvement
The purpose of the SALT (Student Affairs Leaders of Tomorrow) program is to introduce Sacramento State students to the Student Affairs profession. Focusing on providing an applied understanding of how theory and practice come together to extend learning outside of the classroom, SALT aims to introduce students to relevant theory, provide cooperative learning experiences, and assist in the preparation of their professional next steps in the field of Student Affairs.
THERE ARE THREE WAYS YOU CAN PARTICIPATE IN THE SALT PROGRAM:
1) FACILITATE A SEMINAR
Each seminar will consist of a 60-90 minute workshop taught by a Student Affairs professional working that specific track area. Elective seminar topics include Student Engagement Programs, Holistic Student Development Programs, Equity Programs, and Student Services.
2) SERVE AS A MENTOR
Each mentor will be assigned a mentee who is interested in learning more about the area of student affairs that you work in. Mentors will meet on a regular basis with their SALT scholars and help develop goals for them to accomplish throughout the year. The scholars will participate in a hands-on experience in the mentor’s department.
The SALT leadership team will provide training and support for all facilitators and mentors.
